Treehaus Audiolab Brings “The A/Machines.” New 300B Amplifier to Debut at AXPONA 2024 ..with a Fresh Batch of Cookies
March 21, 2024
Treehaus often avoids calling a product “The Best.” The world of audio is far too subjective to ever use such a term seriously. That said, the A/Machines are confidently one of the top five 300B Single-Ended Triode (SET) amplifiers ever produced. It is the culmination of over a decade of research, development, and testing of a myriad of amplifier designs and components. Yes, the origins predate the formation of Treehaus Audiolab itself.
Engineered and built by legend Radu Tarta, the foundation of the A/Machines is similar to our existing excellent 300B amplifier inspired by Susumu Sakuma. A 10Y/801A drives the famed Western Electric 300B though a Finemet-Core interstage transformer made for Treehaus Audiolab in Japan. The output transformer, also with a Finemet-Core, utilizes a non-traditional impedance loading which eliminates the typical darker, syrupy sound of most 300B designs. Coleman filament regulators on separate dedicated DC supplies provide ultra-clean heater current to the directly-heated tubes.
The A/Machines depart from this design by using 4 enclosures rather than 2. Each channel is two units: one amplification section and one power supply section. The ultimate layout for noise and channel separation. To keep it simple, we simply doubled the total tube-rectified power supply capacity compared to the existing design. Gratuitously, we utilized Finemet-Core chokes and massive G.O.S.S. Core power transformers. MIL-spec Amphenol umbilical cords and Cardas binding posts connect power and signal. Nothing was held back.
The result is everything loved about our 300B amplifier, just more of it. More energy, more detail, more clarity, more nuance, more refinement, and still with plenty of SET magic. Six entire watts of it.
The A/Machines also debut a new visual design language offered by Treehaus Audiolab, inspired by early Klangfilm and Western Electric amplifiers. The A/Machines utilize large Simpson analog gauges, heavy 6mm aluminum plinths, crinkle powdercoat enclosures, and brass details throughout. A matching preamplifier, that goes to 11, demonstrates the design language on our existing preamplifier electronics.
If AXPONA attendees get a case of the munchies (we are in room 1420 after all), Treehaus Audiolab “Phantom of Luxury” field-coil loudspeakers will be shown in a new “Elm Cookies” finish, wired with Iconoclast SPTPC cabling.
Special Guests include Iconoclast Cable, and SME Limited Precision Turntables and Tonearms.

Treehaus Audiolab introduces new “Texture Black Metallic” finish at the Florida International Audio Expo 2024 with Geshelli Labs
February 10, 2024
Treehaus Audiolab will make its debut appearance at FLAX, supplying speakers to Geshelli Labs for a special listening room. Audiophiles can experience Treehaus Audiolab speakers on superb solid-state equipment in Florida for the first time.
A new finish debuts on the “National Treasure” live-edge wood field coil speakers at FLAX. Given the art-school roots of Treehaus, it should be no surprise that late nights, then and now, often consist of a heavy diet of Shoegaze. Rob Dickinson, of Catherine Wheel and of Singer Vehicle Design, has provided not only the soundtrack, but also the inspiration, for how analog objects of the past can be reimagined for the future. As a loving tribute, this latest finish is called “Texture Black Metallic.” A high pigment load deep black base is applied over a grain-rich live edge plinth, then top coated with a hand-rubbed oil finish containing a fine silver metallic mica. The grain subtlety captures this silver, providing visual depth and making this black anything but ordinary.

Treehaus Audiolab Introduces “Phantom of Luxury” Updated Flagship Field-Coil Loudspeaker at Capital Audiofest 2023
October 24th, 2023
The Treehaus Audiolab “Phantom of Luxury” field-coil loudspeaker is an open-baffle dipole design utilizing live-edge wood plinths. Natural materials, and their inherent imperfection, are celebrated here as being able to create sound that is real, rather than simply reproduced. This speaker’s heart is the full range driver, a Super Aero 10” field coil by Atelier Rullit. Their foundation rests with Klangfilm and Telefunken speakers. They are meticulously hand rebuilt and redesigned in Germany, “restomodded,” resulting in unparalleled performance. Utilizing old vintage copper for the voice coil and ultralightweight papers for the cones, they are quick, exact, detailed, and pure. They are subtlety augmented by a super-tweeter (above 14K) and a large woofer (below 100hz). This arrangement allows an effortless flow of music, uninhibited by traditional crossover components.
Further updates to the design results in the best Treehaus Audiolab speaker to date. Specifically, transformer attenuation of the Fostex T900A super tweeter enhances tweeter performance and overall impedance matching within the input panel. A new customized 15” woofer from Acoustic Elegance provides low-frequency foundation for any type of music.
Most exciting, Treehaus Audiolab has partnered with Iconoclast Cable for internal speaker wiring. We are proud to be the first speaker company to do so. Offered as an optional upgrade, having Iconoclast Cable for all internal signal connections elevates the sonic performance in all regards.
For Capital Audiofest 2023, Treehaus Audiolab will be debuting to the Press and Public the updated “Phantom of Luxury” loudspeaker with Iconoclast SPTPC internal cabling, in a unique “Walnut Cookies” finish. They will be driven by the Treehaus Audiolab 300B SET Amplifier and Preamplifier. The full suite of Iconoclast Cables (speaker, interconnects, and power) will be on demonstration.
We will be in room 812. Plan on staying a while for “just one more song..”
